so we finally left north sound with relatively “settled” weather. this meant 15 knots on the nose and waves not usually breaking over the fordeck. i elected to not “top off” with fuel as i was ready to just get under way. this turned out to be a bit suboptimal as after 20 hours of motoring just after passing st barts it became clear we where not going to quite make it to barbuda or antigua. we made a u turn and anchored of st barts, we figured we would have not problem getting fuel as it is a mega yacht capitol. alas after spending 20 euros and 30 minutes checking in i was told i would have to cab to the gas station as the fuel dock we “down”. after another 40 eruos in cab fare and 70 euro for 10 gal of fuel i was back on palapa. fortunately aimee was able to get some great caviar and bagett for only 2 euro a tin so it was not a complete waste. we left early in the am for the final motor to barbuda. with only 10 more gallons to go 60 nm we needed to conserve fuel. i was able to fix the fuel monitor and kept the rpms lower and we where able to anchor with the gage on e. after a few days on the hook off this beutifull beach we sent aimee in to check in and get another jerry can of fuel. she called a water taxi which picked her up and took her across the lagoon to “town”. there after finding “customs” which appeared to be in someone’s house and a bit of back and forth she was asked if she could just check in when we got to antigua. this is the first time we have ever showed up in a country and had the officials send us away because its too much work to check us in! we are thinking we will like this place! cheers,
