dingy completion! – 25 oct 2013

i headed in to double D just after dawn to get to the dingy project going. seth was a bit dazed but hit go on the coffee and after what seemed an eternity we where off to the dingy dock tools in hand. we got going on the hole and running cables straight away. the good news was we did not make and “extra” holes and we even had a 2.5 inch hole saw for the tachometer. on the bad news side we discovered we where short a shift cable and had to rerun the main control cable.

seth even got the yamaha dealer dude to come by and look at everything and promise to send over a cable and battery. after seth abandoned my in the yard for a few hours and i was out of water and close to completion so i backed up the tools and hiked back to double d, there i found aimee and jamee and seth longing in aircon comfort on DD. i was a bit perturbed when i learned seth had asked aimee if she could go get me and she declined.

seth and i used the break waiting on parts to go run through the bvi boatmaster drill. thanks to seth we got all my docs together and printed on palapa and then hit the radio license and boat registry offices and dropped off my packages. apparently in a couple weeks i will get my “interview” and my new bvi boat license, fun fun!

we managed to rendezvous with the yamaha dude and the parts and get the engine hooked up enough for the official test run on the hard. the engine worked flawlessly but alas the electronic can bus tach did now. we spent and hour plus trying different cable options and finally decided we would go tachless and get on with things. it was too for a launch today so we will have to go with the maiden voyage tomorrow!

cheers
roger
