[s] [d] 5/30/2012 [t] lobster dinner! [l] Viequas Sun Beach [a] roger [b] First thing in the am we headed over to sun bay after dropping the girls off to go shopping. The water was warm and clear and we got the hooka set up and go to work. Larry and Aimee had been working on the waterline all trip but the bottom was a mess. Barnacles etc everywhere. Larry and I alternated between plastic scrapers and spatulas for the first pass. we ended up exhausted and covered with bitts of squirming banecall, yuk!!
the good news was half way through the girls called to say they had bought 2 3 lbs lobsters and where heading back to drop them off. i dropped everything to head to shore and pick them up. they looked a bit lethargic (apparently they where being frozen when they got them) but after a few hours in the water under the boat they where quite fiesty.
here you see me holding the tail down with my foot and cutting it off with a knife in order to get as much meat as possible. we also ripped off the big feelers for a lobster salad. we parboiled them for 5 minutes and then put them on the grill for a few minutes. aimee made a great garlic butter which was delicious. Larry always the critic pointed out that the last “mexico” lobsters where more tender and doubted my par broil approach. more for me was my reply and in fact we had some leftover for lobster Benedict!
cheers, roger
