in spite of our late night arrival we where both up just after sunrise. aimee was doing her yoga again so i decided to head into budget and go find internet. i had been unable to get bgan going on the passage and i wanted to get an update on a tropical “trough” 600nm east of us moving in our direction. i headed over to lagoonies and fortunately the “trough” had vaporized.
after that i went over to budget where i spent $480 on a dingy cover oil, filters etc. pretty much my whole boat budget for july! i also showed the outboard to harold. i tried to be nice but when he said “i have seen this before and its not a problem” i told him he had to be kidding that it was not normal to see wet corrosion around the head gasket of an out board. he took some photos to send to tohotsu and told me to come back on tues when his mechanic would be in as monday was “emacipation day”. i did manage to top of our two st marteen sims and get us set up for voice and internet on the way home.
we still had to go check in so once aimee finished with her work email we blasted over to the french side so she could do some shopping at the US market there. she got some great cheese whine and pate among other things while i was fighting with the french checkin computer that does not recognize names like the US and puerto rico. i had to check us in coming from “norte america” and going to grenada because they where the only words i recognized!
for our afternoon activity we decide on a pub crawl to revisit some of our favorite spots. we started out with a trip across the bay to this “bus” bar called characters (stay tuned for a review by aimee). we made a flawless dingy lading in bug surf and as we pulled the dingy up i told aimee to enjoy the rock star feeling as our next landing would not go this well!
after characters we headed to banecles which alas was closed for the season, the sogy dollar bar at la papa marina was having a swap meet so we ended up back at the yacht club. even the yacht club was pretty dead but we got our favorite onion rings before finally heading back to la bambas on the beach for a mojoto. we pretty much blew the budget for the day but it was worth it!
