we woke up with the sun again and while aimee was ashore running i was surprised by this frigate or something that came up behind us. i could swore i saw this same one in the red sea! they wasted no time getting anchored and then playing what i presume was the french national anthem as they ran up a stream of flags (see photo). aimee reported a bunch of military people milling around so we headed to shore anticipating a parade or something.
we arrived on shore and after a few rain squalls the parade started up. aimee and i had e brief altercation over who did a better job taking “parade” photo’s. i am not sure who took which ones but according to aimee she won 🙂 i did take the one with palapa in the background behind the jeep!
after the parade we figured we would grab some breakfast/lunch. alas we where in france on bastile day and everything including mc donalds was closed so after wandering around for a bit we headed back to palapa for a beer (our last cold one). we made one final fory into the town afternoon in the hopes something might be open and alas only mc donalds was operational. i had cheasburger and “frities normal” from the 1.75 euro value menu, aimee took a pass.
back on palapa we decided to head to our next event a little beach about 5nm away. we had a great sail and swim before heading to shore to check things out. we found the “best” beach bar not sure the name and had “tea punch” the local drink of martinique. rum, lime and sugar, ironically the same thing aimee made the outher day
out of time……
Cheers, Roger
