So yesterday aimee tried unsuccessfully to report our dingy stollen. She got the shuffle from one spot to another spot finally she found the right spot and gave her report but was told she could not have a copy of it and instead would have to return somewhere else once it was “approved”. I spent the day on the computer working on a quote for a new contract job. Yes i am going to have to go back to work to pay for everything very frustrating. My first product will be a dingy motor tracker with built in detonation option to blow a shot-gun shell into the operator/thief!
The one highlight was our two favorite boat yard employees came back and put almost another full two coats on the bottom. Aimme had to head out first thing in the am to get one more gallon of paint. We ended up with 5 gallons, and between 4 and two coats on the whole boat. we are hoping this along with the raised water line keeps us out of the yard. The good news was it was “only” 2K for the yard bill and aimee ended up putting the whole tab on her cc (i think she felt sorry for me still in my dingy engine funk). this was more or less as expected complete with two currency conversions plus cc fee plus plus.
But today was finally D-day get out of the yard day! We felt like we had been in the Yard forever but really it has only been 9 days, Yikes. Aimee headed off to try to return all the “extra” stuff we had gotten before the long weekend and I stayed behind to get palapa ready to “splash”. Siets and Jen came by to use the power and sand some stuff before we lost access to dry land. of course the launch was delayed. siets finaly showed up at the last moment but of course he had an oven with him (long story) that we had to load.
i kept thinking of the eleen quinn song “don’t drop my boat” as i watched palapa carried around the yard and eventually dropping into the water where she belongs! Seits and I tried to get fuel but they where “out” so we headed over to true blue bay to anchor next to waka ireie. jen feeling sorry for us had cleaned the bottom of both our dinghies so we got our backup 5 horse installed on tiki just as aimee radiod she was on at the true blue resort.
i met aimee at the bar for some beers and some really good fried fish and fried dough thing served with spicy sauce like a burger. we decided to take a lesson from chocobo and when boat expenses get out of hand and overwhelm all other expenses just throw caution to the wind and spend more on your selves! of course spend more was 40$ ec for beers and food but it felt like a splurge!
Glad to see that LaPalapa is finally back in the water where she belongs! Hugs to you and Aimee… We’ll keep her in mind if we need a back-up for some graphic design work.
