Roger out in town for Aimee last day :( – 29 Aug

so i told aimee i would go out in “town” with her for “lunch” after she finished her final errands in honor of it being her last day. at noon she returned and called me on the vhf that she was at the bar. fortunately she was happy sitting there while i got myself organized. even shaved and put on a clean shirt! the plan was to go for lunch and then have dinner at the resort.

well the trip turned out to be a bit more “cultural emersion” than i was planning for. we started on the “bus” which is a van with 10 people packed in for $1.50 ec basically free. too some extent you get what you pay for. we got a nice tour of the medical school (away) from town. but we powered on got to downtown. got some green oranges for aimee and not much else on the food side, no tomatoes not other produce.

we did find the local lunch place jen had found and had the “lambi special” i had forgotten what lambi was but it sounded better than the other options. as it turned out lambi was conch which was quite good but it was a full on meal and aimee was not hungry so i wolfed the whole thing down. this would turn out to be a mistake!

after lunch we found the ace and bought a gallon of turpentine. according to the local termite guys this is what you use to kill the kind of termites we have. apparently gas does not do it, at least not their gas or chemicals. we got the turpentine and some brushes and if i am motivated i will quarantine the forward cabin where the termites have taken up residence in the foul weather gear closet and see if i can “drown” them in turpentine without killing myself. stay tuned…

we made it back to the bus station and got backed on the bus for another long ride back home. it was 3 pm by the time we where back and i was over full so we had to scrap our romantic dinner at the resort for a romantic snack and a movie in the romper room. we ended up watching two movies staying up WAY too late and aimee’s flight is early tomorrow. looks like a 5 am wake up uggh!

hopefully this whole trip will be a learning experience for aimee and she will remember why she is on palapa and not in Canada and we can avoid future torture for us both 🙂

and yes i need a haircut but not sure what to do without now, its longer than its ever been in my life. good thing it keeps the sun off my face and neck but i have to wear a hat to keep it out of my eyes.

cheers, roger

  1. you are starting to look like a Rock Star! maybe you should pick up a guitar and follow in Jimmy Buffet’s footsteps, or wake…. Good luck with those termites!
