eventually i tore my self away from thoughts of the genset to focus on the day at hand. we had originally invited waka irie over for a beach bonfire/bbq but after getting nailed by little no see-ums/sand-flea things last night we where having second thoughts. the one piece of good news was jen was able to find our bag of about 50 oysters that had been hung off the back of palapa but somehow got snagged and broke free the night of our party. we had searched unsuccessfully yesterday before giving up and heading over to our new island.
the island falls off very quickly so i snorkeled over to help waka irie find a spot for their anchor. being the sharing person i am i even swam over a couple of could beers when i went over to pick up the bag of oysters. while siets went to shore looking for wood and elxploring, jen wasted no time finding us another conch to go with our oyster bbq. she even prepped it herself in record time. we could tell by how long the pounding lasted!
we convinced jen and sietse to do the bbq on palapa early to avoid the bug situation. i must have spent another 2 hours on the grill repeating the oyster process again. we all ate our fill of oysters and then jen breaded and fried up conch as well. i have never been so full of seafood in my life and all for a can of sardines a beer and 15EC aimee traded with the oyster guy! sietse and jen borrowed our dingy claimed they where heading to the beach for the bonfire. we headed to bed. it will be interesting to see if they actually survive the event. as they left jen made a few comments about us needing to “harden up”.
cheers – Roger
Damn Roger, I don’t know who these new people are but they better not be drinking up all my rum… Anyway, I heard Trinidad is a good place to get repairs / parts and heard (rumored) that all import parts are duty free PLUS I should be there in two or three months, how cool eh. Take care. -Kirk
