Back to Cubalitry Island – 22 June

surprisingly enough after almost a week in culebra town we where ready to get out of dodge. don was leaving with his crew to head to the DR so after a quick trip to shore to top of the internet on the phone we headed out. we decided to head back to cubalitra (baby culebra) but this time we picked up a mooring of the south side so we could still have internet.

the pickup was a bit dicey as i was concerned it might be shallow just downwind of the morring. aimee did a rock star job getting us on after loosing the pole overboard and getting her sarong tangled in the mooring line (this is why i alway recommend sailing naked). i recovered the pole at the back of the boat and we went for a snorkel.

the reef was AMAZING best coral i have seen since the maldives i think and it was right off the stern of the boat! so it was a good thing i did a close approach only about a boat length and it was sub 5 feet. we had a very relaxing rest of the day with a few more swims.

we called don on the vhf and invited him up for happy hour but he was a bit too worn out by last night at zaco tacos and was afraid he might get into trouble if he hung out with us the night before his big “passage”

cheers, roger
