and worst “Chinese” food ever …
i needed yet another shcackel for palapa so after aimee’s yoga we headed over to the marine store about 2 nm away in crowns bay. the new dingy is so fun to drive aimee insisted on coming. this made the trip more fun but instead of the 3$ shackel we ended up with 60$ worth of parts including some new polish that came highly recommended aimee wanted to try out.
we had decided to play it safe we would get aimee a b1/b2 visa for our pickups in the US. half the places on line see to say you don’t need this but the charter brokers seem to think you need it so i made aimee a reservation back to Toronto to get hers (you cant do it in the us). aimee then tried to fill out the form online. after 3 attempts on palapa she headed up to the office to use IE. by 2pm we where both still fighting our way through the form. finally when we got to the make reservation step on the web we where dropped into an infinite loop with no opportunity to pay which was a requirement for the appointment. finally we tried the phone number, only to discover a bug in the ivr, after working our way around this we heard repeated “your credit card is not approved” no matter what we entered. got to love the us gov.
we finally had to walk away from this and will just have to go in person on mon and sort things out. we managed to rally and finish up the final kmart run and a few other projects. aimees bike is coming in very handy. she got stopped by the cops the other day and she was expecting to be in trouble for being on the wrong side no helmet etc but the cop just told her “cool bike” usvi != us at least not yet!
aimee even got some more painting of things that needed to be whiter and i finished up the lights and the anchor and replaced the line hangers. i fixed the clogged drain in the aft head by blowing high pressure water from the wash down system down it, cant believe it took me so long to think of this. the end result is aimee is enjoying real showers on board (i still prefer the swim step even in the marina)
after aimee’s shower we attempted sushi for dinner but the place was dead and very sterile so we ended up in this tiki parking lot bar with a bunch of locals. very cool bar, we will have to use some of their drink recipes for the charter program. we decided on some take out Chinese for dinner. they had all the standard stuff but not a good call perhaps the worse Chinese ever, should have know when they had sushi and thai on the menu as well and no accent!
