“That Doesn’t Look Good” – 4 May 2014
Last night was another gorgeous evening. Don made us his mac and cheese delux dinner (with onion, tomato, green beens). We had half of it for dinner and the other half on watch. It was so relaxing I sat in the stern seats looking up at the new moon with the ble speakers in my lap watching James bond movies on the laptop in the cockpit table. The only thing missing was the wind, there was absolutely none which resulted in a nice 4.5 kt breeze as we motored along in flat calm conditions, it really felt like we where on anchor. This was in...

So today after lunch we finally got some wind off the beam instead of straight behind us. I looked at the wind and the sails and said “don why dont we try the main”, “no problem” says don, “ill winch it up” says roger (famous last words) so into the wind we head and i start winching, about half way up i am ready to pass out, given i am 20 or 30 years younger than don depending on how you do the math i refuse to give up. i finally get the damm thing up and ask don “how do you do this”. dons...

So I know blog has been a bit behind, i wont go into all the details now but I finally took two weeks off from “work” while aimee went to race in Antigua race week so i finally have some free time. Don and I managed to get out of the BVI on schedule on the 28th of April in spite of a few days of parties with our friends in Cane Garden Bay and Sopers (The Slappers, Tom and Maggie our new 440 friends Mike and Jen on 3 Sheets not to mention Burt and Emily and of course Don). All these parties made pre departure a bit challenging but...
read morerock climbing at the caves! – 23 Nov 2013
Just when you thought it could not get more fun …. So we started the day with another amazing aimee egg bfast and ceaser’s. I am getting quite good at the Ceaser if i do say so myself! All part of the hard work getting ready for charter! Bert and Emily wanted to go for a snorkel/rock climb around the corner at the Caves. I had never done the caves so after a short dingy race over (we won) we checked out the caves. the caves where quite cool even with the large number of people there initially. fortunately it thinned out before...

we decided to head over to peter island home of good wifi so aimee could work on our new website and i could get caught up on palapa projects. we spent two relaxing days there. on the second day we got a call from lori b saying they where heading over to willi-t’s for emily’s first visit. aimee was on a roll on the web so we did not leave until sunset and again picked up a mooring at night. we are getting quite good at this! after a bit of back and forth aimee decided to join us all at the bar. once there we ran into sheri...

aimee has wanted to do the indians since we have been in the bvi, not sure how we have not done this yet but now becuase everything is market research we have no choise but to do all these things and go all these places we have not yet been! we headed over to the indians first thing with lori b and had an amazing snorkel. i was out after 30 min having coffee with bert and emily but aimee stayed in forever shooting some amazing photos. we need to do a separate snorkel section on the blog/marketing material. after the snorkel event we headed...
read moreBBQ on DD on Normand – 19 Dec 2013
so we decided to head over to one of the anchorages on norman for a bbq on DD. this rapidly turned into an 8 person event as DD invited some moorings friends and we invited lori b. seth and i spent the day working on dd projects while aimee worked on the web. lori b arrived with some whole conch they had purchased whole from a local. i went over to confirm the bbq plan with them and next thing i knew i was part of the conch plan. burt initially tried to just cut the top off with a dermal tool. this severed to splatter conch shell and guts...

so in spite of aimee’s late night adventure or perhaps because of it she was up bright and early wanting to go to bfast on shore. i resisted for a bit but eventually relented. we had great croissants at this little bfast place and then where back on palapa by 8am. we started out heading for peter island but then i was thinking double d might have a better plan so we came back and picked up a mooring. this turned out to be a great idea because as we picked up the mooring aimee lost all her energy. i headed over to the double d for a...

we decided to head over to soper hole to check out and head over to the usvi but discovered along the way that double d was heading over and needed a fan belt for the genny or shore power so their owners could have a final night in air conditioning. i could not find a belt but seth organized to have one delivered. by the time he showed up there where no moorings so we dropped ours so they could pick one up and went out to anchor. it is great having a ton of chain so we can anchor deep but the last 100 feet are getting very rusty so...
read morerelaxing motor to jost – 16 nov 2013
we did not get off the dock until noon waiting for dara’s ferry and for the weather to clear. of course there was no wind so instead of a relaxing sail we opted for a relaxing motor. was nice to be on our own for a break from non-stop fun. it was a good thing we decided to have darra take the ferry as opposed to drop her off at peter as we never made it to peter and got in well after final ferry time in jost. i can never seem to plan more than 6 hours out! we had a nice scallop salad with grilled eggplant for dinner. tomorrow we plan...
