charter ready!? – 19 oct 2013
so yesterday aimee made the mistake of commenting that she finally felt ok with the boats appearance. i interpreted this to mean we should take palapa over to meet our broaker this am. my ulterior motive as to check out seth’s new boat as well in village cay. apparently ready was not quite “ready” so after a frantic morning of more stainless polishing we where back to the ready state. i brought the boat back over to village cay but somehow under way we became no longer “ready” again. after some miscommunication on...

after another day working we where surprised by seth and jaimee bringing their new lagoon 48 by (sorry no picture). this was even bigger then the one they had last year with a forward porch. they had guest on board for their last night so we made the visit brief. seth is actually getting a 58 to replace this so we will have to go check this out as well! cheers roger ...

after 3 days in the marina we where getting to the point of diminishing returns. our fiberglass guy was not going to be available until next week and aimee was now crippled and unable to clean the boat so the marina water was no longer useful so i made the executive decision to get out of dodge. as always it was great to be under way as we motored over continuing flat calm sea out to peter island. once there we anchored off our favorite beach anticipating great internet. alas it looks like peter island has downgraded their wifi, it does work...

well the last two days where non stop projects in pretty oppressively hot conditions here in nanny cay. i rebuilt dons carb 3 times actually getting the engine to run for a bit. alas in a final turn of fate don pulled the cord and the engine would not budge. later analysis would confirm the engine had seized. not sure how this happens, its a 15 year old mercury 15 hp 2 stroke 2 cylinder. fortunately we had already loaded our backup 5 hp int dons massive dingy so at least now he can drive around with a trolling motor in the marina! we also...

we got out of cane garden early and after a quick stop in soffers hole for groceries we pulled into the nany cay marina. one the way don and i got the new fenders inflated and set up and i got to practice backing into a nice easy slip. the only difficulty with nanny cay is for some reason the only have 20 feet fingers works fine if you are a cat in your own slip but as a monohull sharing one its a bit trickier. after the docking don and i hiked around the bay to launch his dingy. 20 minutes i told aimee, if everything goes smootly, famous...

aimee got to practice her “charter” bfast under way as we sailed down the north side of Tortola to pick up maggie for a trip over to white beach on jost van dyke home of the soggy dollar bar. we had planned to meet up with tom who was taking his first day charter guests over as well but we found out latter he ended up at willy t-s instead. maggie met us at the dock fully equipped and we headed out to jost. it had been forever since we had been there back in the micha scott butterbeen days! we picked up a mooring and headed to...

it was another dawn wake up and i dropped the mooring and got under way to head over to sophers hole to “practice” checking in. it was a nice motor along the shore of st johns where we need to spend some more time. the sophers hole customs was a bit more formal than our north sound friends but was painless. there was still nothing open for bfaast so aimee cooked while i took us around to cane garden bay. we picked up a morring and where looking around for phone numbers for tom and maggie when tom apearied via dingy followed by...

so today i was up at dawn again to move palapa over to the fuel dock before the wind came up. i had checked the fuel the day before and we where right on empty. this is due to running the genset and aircon everyday. i am thinking .6 gal per hour x 10 hours = 6 gal per day = $30 yikes! we got the boat over to the fuel dock and aimee worked on yoga until the office opened. i took 80 gal and i think we hold 82 so we where empty! after this we had to run aimee over to her frequent boater appointment at customs. we are supposed to be able to...

and worst “Chinese” food ever … i needed yet another shcackel for palapa so after aimee’s yoga we headed over to the marine store about 2 nm away in crowns bay. the new dingy is so fun to drive aimee insisted on coming. this made the trip more fun but instead of the 3$ shackel we ended up with 60$ worth of parts including some new polish that came highly recommended aimee wanted to try out. we had decided to play it safe we would get aimee a b1/b2 visa for our pickups in the US. half the places on line see to say you...
read moresunrise in the cruise terminal – 9 oct 2013
so aimee dragged me out of bed this am to watch the sunrise. it is one of our “anniversaries” 2 years, who would have guessed! we enjoyed coffee and vitamin drink while waiting on the sun. it took a but longer as we had a mountain in the way but eventually we got our sunrise! shortly after the sun, i looked off the stern and saw the massive disney cruise ship pulling into the dock 50 meters away. it was massive and dwarfed everything. when its bow thrusters kicked in it pushed us off our dock, fortunately our lines where...
