Aimee had invited the hippies over for egg-mignon at the end of our evening last night. she suggested 9am and much to our happy surprise jen said it would have to be by 730 or they would be starving. this was great for us as we have been getting up somewhere between 5 and 6am. in the end we where a few minutes late but the egg-mignon was a great hit siets had at least 3, which is just as well as you can see from his photo he could use some more meat on his bones!
we decided to try again for a “local” lunch and at 1230 headed in. we had the “special” fish and rice and chicken and rice for 15 EC apiece (about $6). not bad and plenty of food when augmented by some fish cakes. after lunch jen and sietse wanted to take us on a hike to a water fall. first we caught a bus and then hiked for what seemed like over an hour. along the way we stopped to eat mango’s that where dropping from trees every 100 meters or so and collected avocados that will need a few days to ripen. we realized on the “hike” how we both are pretty content on palapa and the near by on shore and seem to need others to push us out into these land events!
in any event we made it to the primary waterfall only to find it occupied so we bushwhacked a bit further to find our own private swimming hole. you forget how nice cool fresh water is after a hike when you are used to warm salt water (not that bad either). we had a great time romping in the swimming hole and sliding down the baby waterfall before retracing our steps back home. by the time we where back on the boats it was 5pm and we had to combine happy hour and dinner.
jen had made a soup with local veggies and a bit of smoked pork she had grabbed at the market on the way home so she brought this over. the pork really made the meal, along with the dutch garlic bread from st marteen. i made margaritas while the dinner finished simmering on our stove and we managed to finish off the last tequila and tripplesec on both boats. alas no roger-ritas for a bit although we have limes!
tomorrow the plan is to head to st lucia at the end of the day after catching up on some work but you never know where we will end up, hopefully south!
Cheers, Roger
Looks like a great “push” to inland. Looks to me like your slimming down too Roger.
People that didn’t know you better might find it ironic that “margaritas” seems to be the only word that you have no trouble spelling correctly.
