finally back in paradise! 10 to 18 sept 2013

well we finally managed to get out of civilizatoin having given up on getting the stcw cert and hearing back from oliver on the steps and mirrors he did for us. we made a brief stop in jolly harbor to get some more parts at budget and then provisioned at the massive grocerie store and the next day we headed out to green island to complete our charter ‘”refit”.

the weather was perfect for the 20nm motor around the island, with not even a white cap in sight. we got into green island an hour before sunset. it was so amazing i grabbed a beer jumped in and swam the 50 feet to the little beach off our stern. asimee joined me with another beer and then i got the bbg going for fresh snapper aimee had gotten that aim. she had stuffed it and i grilled it hole in foil. i am too lazy personally to eat this sort of fish but it was delisouse we manage to power through both snapper, delicous!

the next morning we work to our own private island with perfect sand beach. we got an email from our charter broaker asking if we could do a honeymoon on 15 oct. we decided to go for it but it means we need to get a ton of documentation. saftey gear upgrades and other projects in less than a month. you can check out or boat detail here

while cleaning out the lazzerete i discovered a high presure leak on the water maker which i managed to fix. ironically it was one of the connections that came from the factory. some lazy dud did not tourqe the fitting in properly when he had it on a bench so of course it was 10x harder for me as i had to disasamble the whole thing. in any case got that finished only to discover the engel is finally giving up the fight. it was cold but not freezing so we got all the food out into the beer fridge cranked that up and put the beer in the engel. i managed to get a replacement part and secondary freezer on order hopfully to be delivered to usvi next week. fun fun.

other projects included replacing the latch on the swim locker, adding guest hooks, removing all our stuff from the fwd cabin and stowing, fixing the table supports, replaced rub rail, put new light fixtures in forward cabin, added more hooks for docklines.

in stpite of all the work we knocked of at 3pm every day for a long lounge in the water/beach as the water temp is perfect.

cheers,
Roger
